Membrane switch

A membrane switch is a switch panel manufactured on thin membranes using printing technology. It is suitable for applications using low voltages and currents and whose key can be non-locking. A membrane switch is generally connected to a separate control circuit. The switch is reliable and easy to design to suit the product, functionally as well as visually.

The membrane can be manufactured to act as the switch itself, or the switch can be effected by means of metal couplers. Use of a metal arc achieves keypad feel for the user, the desired key pressure being obtained through a suitable choice of arc. Windows for displays and LEDs can be printed on the surface film of the membrane switch, and embossing employed to create special effects.
